Osaka, Japan - With her comfortable victory in the 20Km Race Walk, Olga Kaniskina has followed in the footsteps of her illustrious compatriot Olimpiada Ivanova, who won the world title two years ago in Helsinki with a World record of 1:25:41.

Osaka, Japan - As you might expect, athletics talk comes quite high on the agenda in the household of Yekaterina Volkova in Zheleznogorsk, in the Kursk region, south-west of Moscow; the more so when we learn that Volkova’s husband, Artem Mostov ran the 800 metres for Russia in the Sydney Olympics. They have a three year old son, Daniil, incidentally. But there is little question now of who holds the family bragging rights.

Russian team for Osaka announced

Russia will be represented at the 11th IAAF World Championships in Athletics in Osaka by 105 athletes, including 40 men and 65 women. Acting chief trainer Valentin Maslakov (team’s chief trainer in sprint) will head the team.
