Borzakovskiy may miss World Indoors

Olympic 800 meters champion Yuriy Borzakovskiy may miss the 11th IAAF World Indoor Championships on 10-12 March in Moscow.

Feofanova wins in Bydgoszcz

Svetlana Feofanova has made her first appearance in this season taking a part at the Elite Perdo’s Cup in Poland’s Bydgoszcz yesterday, where women competed in the pole vault and men competed in the high jump.

Gushchina sprints 22.82 and Kotlyarova runs 1:58.94 at “Russian Winter” – Day One

Moscow, Russia - Only Russian athletes participated in the first day of the “Russian Winter” indoor tournament, and some results led by Yuliya Gushchina’s 22.82 second run in the women’s 200m, and a women’s 800m with two athletes under two minutes, were very good indeed.

Olga Kotlyarova to run 400 meters

Olga Kotlyarova has been added to the women’s 400 meters start list of the Russian Winter, an IAAF Indoor Permit Meeting. Yesterday, she had clocked a World season best of 1:58.94 minutes in the 800 meters at the Russian Winter National Meeting.

World champion and European record-holder arrive in Moscow

World 60m champion Jason Gardener (GBR) and European record-holder Ronald Pognon (FRA) are arriving in Moscow today to meet face to face in the most transient and interesting act of the Russian Winter Athletic Performance on 25 January.

Yelena Slesarenko promises to jump higher at Russian Winter

2004 Olympic champion Yelena Slesarenko who won the Moscow High Jump with Music Cup with 1.94m on 21 January promises to clear at the least a 2cm higher mark at the Russian Winter 2006, an IAAF Indoor Permit Meeting.

Pretenders circle increases

A participant in the women’s 1000 meters at the Russian Winter Tatyana Petlyuk from Ukraine won the 800 meters with 2:01.65 at the Christmas Starts held in the Ukrainian capital. The result is a World season best, so Tatyana could be a winner on 25 January in Moscow.

Ivan Ukhov second in Hustopece

Ivan Ukhov placed second with a clearance of 2.31m at the 3rd leg of the Moravia High Jump Tour held in Czech’s Hustopece yesterday. Irina Glavatskikh was second in the women’s division with 1.90m.

Slesarenko achieves World season best

Yelena Slesarenko won the Moscow high jump with music cup with a World season best of 1.94 meters. Andrei Tereshin won the men’s division with 2.30, beating Yaroslav Rybakov — 2.28m.

Lebedeva jumps for fellow countrymen

First season’s meeting in CSKA

This season’s first meeting, the Christmas Cup, was held on 12 January in Moscow’s CSKA Indoor Area. World Indoor Champion Natalya Nazarova pleased the spectators having won the 500 meters with perfect time of 1:07.79 minutes.

Isinbayeva and Alekna named European Athlete of the Year

Russian pole vaulter Yelena Isinbayeva and Lithuanian discus thrower Virgilijus Alekna have been voted the winners of the Waterford Crystal European Athlete of the Year Trophy 2005. For both it is the first time that they have won the award.
