Famous Merlene Ottey arrives to Moscow to compete in the womens 60 meters at the 2007 Russian Winter today. Yesterday, Cuban athletes team including Yoandri Betanzos, Yergelis Savigne, Anier Garcia and Victor Moya arrived to Russian Capital.

Aleksandr Sergeyev, 23, won the mens triple jump at the Moscow Indoor Championships achieving 17.00 meters, a World season best, yesterday.

2 miles is a rare distance not only in Russia but also in many others countries of the World. To be a World best performer over the 2 miles is very honorary though. So, famous Ethiopian Haile Gebreselassie tried in 2003 to improve the World best and did it clocking 8:04:69. Russians was rarely running the distance in the past, and they are not in the Worlds top 100 list. The satiation is hoped to change at the Russian Winter in Moscow.

Russias Yekaterina Kuntsevich is leading after the 2nd leg of the Moravia Daylong Tour scored 383 points. She placed third with 1.89m in the womens high jump in Ostrava yesterday.

Jeff Hartwig clears 5.70 after Pavlov and Chistyakov

Vaulters have an impetuous start of the season. They got good results from the first meetings. In Nevada, USAs Jeff Hartwig, 39, cleared a mark of 5.70meters that Russias Igor Pavlov and Viktor Chistyakov have cleared earlier at Christmas Cup in Moscow. At the same time, Hartwing beat World Champion Brad Walker and Olympic medalist Toby Stevenson at the meeting.

Natalya Lebusova 6.70 for a start

Natalya Lebusova has set a personal indoor best of 6.70m in the womens long jump at the Saint-Petersburg Cup this seasons her first meeting. Olesya Kazanovskaya was second with 6.57m and Anna Nazarova jumped 6.52m and placed third.

2007 indoor season has started! Yekaterinburgs Christmas Starts gave great results of Russian athletes. Irina Khabarova set a new mark for sprinters in this season, winning the womens 60m with 7.24sec.

World Championships in Long Jump named Russian Winter

The start list in the womens long jump at the 2007 Russian Winter consists of 4 best athletes in the IAAF World Rankings as well and at the least 3 women of the Worlds Top 20.
