Yelena Sokolova won the women’s long jump at yesterday’s Artur Takac Memroial in Beograd achieving 6.50m. In the men’s javelin throw, Russians took first three places with Ilya Korotkov as the winner – 78.74 m.

Russians win European Champion Clubs Cup

Russian clubs Fimpromko (Yekaterinburg) and Luch (Moscow) won at the European Champion Clubs Cup held in Portugal. Fimpromko scored 134 points in the women’s division and Luch scored 115 points in the men’s one.

Pamela Jelimo a star of Znamensky Memorial

Kenyan Athletics rising star, World season leader Pamela Jelimo, 19, bettered her personal best over the women’s 800 m at the FBK-Games on 24 May in Hengelo clocking an amazing 1:55.76, a new World Junior record! Pamela will be one of the stars at the Znamensky Memorial that will be held on 15 June in Zhukovsky. Her main rivals will no doubt be Russian athletes headed by multiple World champion, European champion Olga Kotlyarova.

Aleksandra Butvina, 22, won the women’s heptathlon at the Russian Combined Events Cup held on 14-16 May in Sochi. She scored 6058 points for the first time in her career. This result is sixth in this World season. Vasiliy Kharlamov won the men’s decathlon scoring 7574 points.

Russian team won the RUS, UKR, BLR, LAT, TUR Youth Match held on 16-17 May in Yalta, Ukraine scoring 575 points. Ukrainian team was second with 518 points, and Belarusian team placed third scoring 479 points.

Yevgeniya Isakova wins in Dakar

Yevgeniya Isakova won the women’s 400mH at the Meeting Grand Prix IAAF de Dakar clocking 56.20 seconds. Anna Nazarova was second in the women’s long jump with 6.57 meters.

Sprint in Zhukovsky promises attractive fight and high results

The men’s and women’s sprints promise to be one of the most attractive events of the 50th Znamensky Memorial. In the men’s 100m, World and European medalist Andrey Yepishin (native of Zhukovsky) will compete against World Indoor and African Champion Olusoji Fasuba from Nigeria (PB: 9.85), Asian Champion Samuel Francis from Qatar (9.99), European medalist, 2007 Znamensky winner Matic Osovnicar from Slovenia (10.13), 2007 European U23 Champion Rikki Fifton from Great Britain (10.16).

Znamensky Memorial: one month to go

Only month remains until the 50th Znamensky Memorial, a European Premium Outdoor Meeting, in Zhukovsky. Many Russian and World famous athletes are training for the meeting. The crowd will see them all on the Meteor stadium on 15 June.
