Russian women’s team placed second at the European Combined Events Cup, held in Hengelo, Netherlands at weekend. They scored 13.040 points behind Ukrainian team with 13040 points. Russian men’s team was fifth.

World Junior Champion Tatyana Chernova has won a Combined Events meeting in Goetzic. She was placing 9th after the first day, during which she set two personal best achieving 6.78m in the long jump and clocking 2:12.1 in the 800m and achieved good 53.51m in the javelin throw. After all the events, she scored 6617 points!

The beginning of summer has been marked by series of important athletic meetings and a number of high results. The main meeting of the last weekend was the World record by Usain Bolt of Jamaica at an IAAF Grand Prix meeting in New York in the men’s 100m – 9.72 seconds. Bolt bettered by 0.02sec Asafa Powell’s World record and beat World Champion Tyson Gay clocking 9.85sec.
