Yelena Isinbaeva was awarded an one-karat brilliant at the DN Galan, an IAAF Super Grand Prix meeting, held yesterday in Stockholm, after setting a meeting record. She beat a previous record of 4.78 meters by 1 cm in the women’s pole vault set by Svetlana Feofanova in 2002.

The last day of the European Junior Championships is holding in Lithuanian city of Kaunas today. Before it, Russian team top the medal table having 13 medals, 4 gold, 7 silver and 2 bronze. Our team won 3 gold, 6 silver and 2 bronze medals during previous two days.

Yelena Isinbaeva clears 5 meters first in history.

On 13 July 1985 in Paris, the greatest pole vaulter Sergei Bubka from Donets (Ukraine) had cleared 6 meters first in the history of the men’s pole vault. And now, 20 years and 9 days later, Yelena Isinbaeva cleared 5 meters in the women’s pole vault at yesterday’s London Grand Prix!

The outstanding performance on the first day of the European Athletics Junior Championships in Kaunas was a new world junior record of 43:11.34 in the women’s 10000m track race walk final for Vera Sokolova. She was followed - albeit almost two and a half minutes later - by her teammate, Olga Mikhailova, who won the Silver in a PB 45:31.49.

Madrid, Spain - Olympic Pole Vault champion Yelena Isinbayeva of Russia, the IAAF Overall World Ranked number one athlete improved her World record tonight at the ‘Meeting de Atletismo Madrid 2005’ - IAAF Super Grand Prix - thanks to a 4.95m** second time clearance.

Russian team for Helsinki were selected at the Russian Championships during 10-13 July in Tula. The team’s draft line-up became known today. The final line-up becomes known on 25 July.

Russian athletes won their first medals, 1 gold and 1 silver, at the 4th World Youth Championships in Athletics started in Moroccan city of Marrakesh on 13 July.

Yulia Pechenkina clocks 53.01, Makarov throws 90.33!

Yulia Pechenkina won the women’s 400mH final at the Russian Championships in Athletics with a World season best of 53.01 seconds. Sergei Makarov won the men’s javelin throw with 90.33 meters, a Russian season lead and a World second.

Yelena Isinbaeva wins in Rethymno.

Yelena Isinbaeva won at the Vardinoyiannia, an EAA Permit Meeting, held in Rethymno, Greece today. Yelena had came to Greece to set a new World record of 4.94 meters, but the new mark wasn’t clear by her. Yelena won the women’s pole vault with 4.70 meters.

Tula, Russia - The main Russian Championships - 38 gold medals are at stake - will take place 10-13 July in Tula, after which the names of the Russian team for the 10th IAAF World Championships in Athletics, Helsinki, Finland will be officially declared.

Russian team third at European Youth Olympic Festival.

The 8th European Youth Olympic Festival closed in Italian city of Lignano yesterday. Russian team placed first in the medal table with 17 gold, 16 silver and 12 bronze medals. Russian athletic team won 3 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze medals.

Tatiana Lebedeva on fight for Golden League Jackpot.

Olympic champion Tatina Lebedeva won the women’s triple jump at the Golden Gala, the second TDK Golden League meeting, held yesterday in Rome and continued her fight for the Golden League Jackpot of $1 million. Unfortunately, Svetlana Cherkasova dropped out of the contenders’ list.

Rome, Italy - According to the latest provisional start-list for the Borotalco Golden Gala, the second leg of the TDK Golden League 2005, eleven out of the twelve event winners from last Friday’s opening meeting in Paris St-Denis will compete this Friday 8 July in the Italian capital’s Olympic Stadium.

The European Combined Events Cup (Super League) finished in Bydgoszcz (Poland) today. Russian men team took the second place, having scored 22711 points, 428 points behind Estonia and 229 points ahead Spain. Russian women team placed third with 17487 points, having given the first place to Belarus with 139 points ahead and Ukraine with just 6 points ahead.

Cherkasova and Lebedeva started their battle for golden million.

IAAF Golden League started in the Stade de France yesterday. Svetlana Cherkasova and Tatiana Lebedeva were the only Russians who won their GL events.
