Russian athletes will get the gold medal of the European U23 Championships after Ukrainian athletes received a 2-year ban.
Executive Committee of the Ukrainian Athletics Federation decided to ban for 2 years Darya Pizhankova and Ulyana Lepskaya for an anti-doping rules violation. Their tests from the European U23 Championships in Ostrava were positive.
The ban became effective 4 August 2011. Results of Pizhankova and Lepskaya they achieved in Ostrava and at the Ukrainian Championships will be annulled. It means, that the gold medal they won in the women’s 4x400m Relay will go to the Russian fourth including Yekaterina Filatova, Alyona Tamkova, Yekaterina Kuzina and Nina Argunova.
