Silver medal for Pishchalnikova, bronze medal for Chernova

Darya Pishchalnikova took the silver medal in the women’s discus throw at the Games of the XXX Olympiad in London. Tatyana Chernova took the bronze medal in the women’s heptathlon.

Darya Pishchalnikova achieved in her fifth attempt 67.56m and placed after two-time European champion Sandra Perkovic of Croatia, who beat a national record during the final twice. Percovic won with 69.11m. Yanfeng Li of China placed third with 67.22m.

Tatyana Chernova, placing sixth after 6 events, excellently ran the 800m in 2:99.56 and moved to the third place in the women’s heptathlon scoring 6628 points. Chernova won the bronze medal for the second time in her career after Beijing.

Jessica Ennis of Great Britain won the heptathlon with a national record of 6955 points. Germany’s Lilli Schwarzkopf placed second with a personal best of 6649. Russia’s Kristina Savitskaya, who competed at the Olympic Games for the first time in her career, placed 8th with 6452. Olga Kurban was 20th - 6084.
