Yelena Isinbayeva vaults 4.91m in London

29.07.2006

Yelena Isinbayeva set a World season best of 4.91m in the womens pole vault at the Norwich Union London Grand Prix held yesterday.
Yelena Isinbayeva who had made history last year at this meeting with the worlds first 5m vault by a woman, went for 5.02m. The Russian World and Olympic champion, who currently holds the record at 5.01m, didnt come close on any of her three tries.

However, her world season leading 4.91m winning vault on her second approach to the bar at that height shows her confidence is growing in her revised technique. This year, as she herself confirmed, is one of transition.
