Menkov will defend last year’s title

World indoor bronze medallist, “Russian Winter 2012” winner Aleksandr Menkov will be the headliner of the long jump at this year’s competition

 

Men’s long jump will definitely be a highlight of the “Russian Winter 2013” meeting which will take place in Moscow on February 3rd. Menkov’s spectacular leaps from last year, when he won the competition with 8.24, will return to the CSKA indoor arena. Menkov’s main rivals will be: Olympic finalist, world and European championships’ medallist Chris Tomlinson (Great Britain), experienced and titled athletes Louis Tsatoumas (Greece, PB 8.66) and Ignisious Gaisah (Ghana) and Cuban Wilfredo Martinez. And there will be some Russians, of course: world junior champion and world junior record holder Sergey Morgunov and European Team Championships’ winner Pavel Shalin. The meeting record is 8.30, it stands since 2000 and belongs to Vitaliy Shkurlatov.
