JUNIOR WOMEN’S 10KM: Medvedeva cruises to easy win
The race was so one-sided – a boxing trainer would have thrown the towel in at the equivalent of the first round.
The Russians came out fighting, but Ekaterina Medvedeva and Nadezhda Leontyeva weren't even left to duel each other after the first two laps.
Medvedeva won the world junior championships last year, and a 22-second reduction on her PB in February was enough to psych the rest of the field even before the gun.
At 5km, she hit her own watch timer at 22:03, with Leontyeva 23 seconds back, only two seconds up on a spirited attempt by Anežka Drahotová from next door in the Czech Republic.
