The IAAF President Lamine Diack celebrates his 80th anniversary today, on 7 June.
Mr Lamine Diack leads the IAAF since 1999. During the years of his work as the Head of this organisation the number of member federations has increased, the levels of interest towards athletics in the world have risen and many popular competitions have appeared.
Mr Diack always does his best to follow the latest tendencies in event organisation and promotion for the major athletics events. He pays much attention to the education, particulary in the anti-doping issues. His flair for evenr organisation, his expertise and authority make an important contribution to the global Olympic movement development.
Lamine Diack's work in the IAAF provides an illustration of a policy aimed at the promotion of the "queen of all sports" and at the preserving of Olympic principles.
