Run for record
An attempt to set a new World best performance in the men’s 600m will be made at the 2014 Russian Winter on 2 February in Moscow. Runners will attack Nico Motchebon’s 1:15.12 from February 1999.
In 2010, Yuriy Borzakovskiy achieved 1:16.02 and set the Russian best performance. In 2011, Ivan Tukhtachev clocked 1:16.80 and set the Russian U23 best performance. In 2012, Poland’s Adam Kszczot set the World All-time second time of 1:15.26. This year, Ethiopia’s Mohammed Aman set the World junior best of 1:15.60.
As the Russian Winter director Mikhail Butov said, the organizing committee is looking forward to see the new World best in the men’s 600m: «We have the confirmations to compete in the meeting from the strongest runners in this event. The list includes the 2013 World champion in the men’s 800m Mohammed Aman, the 2013 European indoor champion Adam Kszczot and USA’s Erik Sowinski (1:15.99 at the 2013 Russian Winter). We will try to invite two or three strong runners and will try two very fast races as well. The crowd will see an attractive show anyway».
