Yepishin and Osovnikar to meet in Moscow

24.12.2006

Russia’s 60m indoor and 100m outdoor record holder Andrey Yepishin will compete at 2007 Russian Winter, an IAAF Indoor Permit meeting on 29 January in Moscow. He was the silver medalist at the World Indoor Championships in Moscow and the European Championships in Gothenburg setting two national records.
At both of the events, Andrey Yepishin had Matic Osovnikar from Slovenia as one of the main rivals, who set two national records as well. Now they will meet at Russian Winter on 28 January. Nobody knows who of them will be the winner. After all, the meeting organizers invited one of the strongest sprinters in the World, Olusoji Fasuba from Nigeria, who achieved 9.85 sec at the 100m this year. Only World record holders Asafa Powell and Justin Gatlin as well as Tyson Gay was faster than Fasuba this year.

The meeting’s competitors have fast speed in the men’ 60m too. Fasuba has a personal best of 6.50, Andrey Yepishin — 6.52 and Osovnikar — 6.58. Their speeds in Moscow will be like in the space!
