Khabarova and jumpers at height in Yekaterinburg

07.01.2007

2007 indoor season has started! Yekaterinburg’s Christmas Starts gave great results of Russian athletes. Irina Khabarova set a new mark for sprinters in this season, winning the women’s 60m with 7.24sec.
Ivan Ukhov won the men’s high jump with 2.30m, an amazing result for the season’s first meeting. European champion Andrey Silnov was second with 2.24m and Aleksandr Shustov and Andrey Tereshin cleared 2.20m. All the jumpers will compete at the Russian Winter on 28 January in Moscow. We can just guess the level at which the rivals will compete at the meeting in Moscow when Yaroslav Rybakov and other strong jumpers are in the sector.

In the women’s high jump Viktoriya Slivka took an unpredicted win setting a personal best of 1.96m (she wasn’t competing two years). Anna Chicherova who cleared the same height gave the win by attempts. Yekaterina Kuntsevich was third with 1.92 meters improving by 1cm her season best.
