Kudryavtsev takes silver in men’s 400mH

Denis Kudryavtsev finished second in the men’s 400mH final at the 15th IAAF World Championships in Beijing and won the first medal for Russian team.

He clocked 48.51 in the heats, 48.23 in the semi-finals and 48.05 in the final setting a new national record. The previous NR of 48.06 was set by Ruslan Mashchenko in 1998.

Nicholas Bett of Kenya won the men’s 400mH in 47.79 (2015 World-leading time and a national record). The Bahamas’ Jeffrey Gibson finished third in 48.17 (a national record).
