Russia cruises to second consecutive win at Yokohama Women’s Ekiden

Propelled by three consecutive stage bests from the start, Team Russia won the 25th Women’s Ekiden in 2:14:48 on Sunday (25)in Yokohama, Japan.
“The reason why we won is because we were able to put together a very good team, and we trained very hard for this race,” said Liliya Shobukhova after Russia won the Ekiden for the second year in the row.

It was the ninth victory by a Russian team in the event’s 25 year history of the Ekiden, but the first time they have won back-to-back editions.
