Javelin to fly far in Zhukovski
04.06.2007
Russian record holder Sergey Makarov and the meeting record holder Aleksandr Ivanov, both the meeting’s three times winners, will compete in the men’s javelin throw at the Znamensky Memorial in Zhukovski on 9 June. Recently in Dessau, Sergey Makarov showed with his throws series (81.96-83.01-82.17-86.32-83.68-87.05) he is in good form.
The men’s javelin throw is an event not so often included to the meeting’s international program over the last years. In addition, there will be an interesting rivalry to see among the Russian athletes and the Number 5 in the IAAF World Rankings Lavtia’s Ainars Kovals, the last year’s IAAF World Athletic Final Germany’s Peter Essenwein, this season’s thee meetings medalist Poland’s Igor Janik, the last year’s European Championships finalist Switzerland’s Stefan Muller. All the athletes are in the World Top 15.
