Isinbayeva and Slesarenko hunt for 1 million

Yelena Isinbayeva and Yelena Slesarenko won their events at the ExxonMobil Bislett Games, the start of the IAAF Golden League 2007, and became contenders for the $1 Million Golden League Jackpot.
Yelena Isinbayeva cleared 4.85 in the women’s pole vault, and Tatyana Polnova achieved 4.55 placing third. Isinbayeva said, “It was too cold in the end. Otherwise it felt good for me. The first win is secured. The best jump was at 4.75, also the one at 4.85 was not bad”.
Yelena Slesarenko cleared 2.02 in the women’s high jump. She said, “This was my best competition this season. I am very happy both with my result and the technique. I felt strong the whole day. My goal this season is the World Championships in Japan. I hope to compete at my best level there. And my best level I hope, is close to 2.10”.
Yuliya Chizhenko finished second in the women’s 1500m. She lost to win at last meters to the finish clocking 4.01,58.
