Vote for Russia’s nominees for Waterford Crystal European Athlete of the Year Trophy 2007

European Athletics is delighted to announce the nominations for the 2007 Waterford Crystal European Athlete of the Year. The on-line poll to choose the winners is now open from a shortlist of 29 men and 23 women, with voting taking place on the European Athletics website until September 25. There are 3 men and 6 women from Russia in the list.
BORZAKOVSKIY Yuriy (RUS) 800m
Leading European 800m runner in 2007 and only European to make the World Championships final where he took the bronze.
RYBAKOV Yaroslav (RUS) High Jump
Won World Championship High Jump silver medal in Osaka with 2.35m, the joint highest jump in Europe in 2007.
UKHOV Ivan (RUS) High Jump
European Athlete of the Month for January who set a Russian Indoor record and world leading performance of 2.39m in Moscow.
ISINBAYEVA Yelena (RUS) Pole Vault
European Athlete of the Month for February when she set a World Indoor record of 4.93m in Donnetsk. World Champion in Osaka, World leader and unbeaten through out 2007.
KANISKINA Olga (RUS) 20km Walk
World 20km Walk champion and took silver at the European Cup Race Walking in Leamington.
LEBEDEVA Tatyana (RUS) Long Jump
World Long Jump champion who also won silver in the Triple Jump in Osaka. Won 12 top quality Long & Triple Jump competitions in 2007.
PECHONKINA Yuliya (RUS) 400m Hurdles
World championship 400m Hurdles silver medallist with 53.50. Won SPAR European Cup title in Munich and was unbeaten in 8 out of 9 finishes in 2007.
SOBOLEVA Yelena (RUS) 1500m
World championship 1500m silver medallist and fastest time in the world for 2007 with 3:57.30 and mile time of 4:15.63.
VOLKOVA Yekaterina (RUS) 3000m SC
World 3000m steeplechase champion in world leading time of 9:06.57.
