Sergei Makrov and Yaroslav Rybakov win in Ostrava.

Olympic bronze medalist Sergei Makarov achieved a world leading of 88.84m on his first attempt in the men’s javelin throw at the Golden Spike, this year’s second meeting of the IAAF Super Grand Prix, held in Czech’s Ostrava yesterday.
Yaroslav Rybakov won the men’s high jump with 2.25m at his second. He was the only one, who cleared that mark.

Olympic champion Natalia Sadova took the second place in the women’s discus throw – 65.66m. Natalia took the lead on her fifth attempt, but Czech’s Vera Cechlova (Pospisilova) was better on sixth – 32cm more than Natalia’s mark.

In addition to the main competitions, there was helding the men’s triathlon (110mH, long jump, shot put). Russia’s Aleksandr Pogorelov placed second with 2542 points. He clocked 14.49sec in the 110mH, achieved 7.01m in the long jump and 15.39 in the shot put. The event was won by Czech’s Roman Sebrle.

Yevgeni Pechenkin (110mH – 13.57sec, Russian leading), Yelena Bolsun (100m – 11.56sec) and Natalia Tsyganova (1000m – 2:41.41) took third plasec in their events.
