Two wins in Bydgoszcz

20.02.2008

Russian athletes won both of the program events at today’s Pedro’s Cup meeting in Bydgoszcz in Poland: the men’s high jump and the women’s pole vault.
Yaroslav Rybakov showed an incontestable advantage in the men’s high jump becoming the only athlete who cleared 2.34m. He tried to clear 2.40m as well. Aleksey Dmitrik placed second with 2.30m.

In the women’s pole vault, the winner was Svetlana Feofanova clearing 4.71m. She competed against Yelena Isinbayeva for the first place at 4.81, but the mark was not cleared.

Yelena Isinbayeva had been expected to set a World indoor record (there were a 30.000 euro prize for the World Indoor record and a 50.000 euro prize for the World overall one), but she stopped at 4.61m placing second.
