Three medals on Day 2

Russian athletes won three medals (gold, silver and bronze) on Day 2 of the 12th IAAF World Indoor Championships in Valencia. Thanks to that fact, Russian team moved to the third place on the medal table.
Yelena Isinbayeva won the women’s pole vault clearing 4.75m. The same result was achieved by USA’s Jeniffer Stuczynski placing second. Svetlana Feofanova placed fifth with 4.60m.

During the attractive duel against Stefan Holm of Sweden, Yaroslav Rybakov won the silver medal in the men’s high jump clearing 2.34m. The competition ended when Stefan Holm cleared 2.36m. Then Rybakov and Holm competed at 2.38, but the new mark was not cleared.

Yebgeniy Borisov became bronze medalist in the men’s 60 mH sharing the third place with Latvia’s Stanislavs Olijars clocking 7.60 seconds. Aleksandra Antonova finished fifth in the women’s 60 mH clocking 8.02. Yuliya Kondakova was seventh with 10.19.

Sad to say, Aleksandr Pogorelov didn’t continue his performance in the heptathlon because of the morning’s injury. Mikhail Logvinenko is placing seventh with 3290 after the heptathlon’s first day.

Maksim Dyldin finished third in the second semi-final of the men’s 400m clocking 46.92 seconds and reaching the final. Denis Alekseyev was fourth in the first semi-final with 47.18.

Over the women’s same distance, both of the semi-finals were won by Russians: Olesya Zykina clocked 51.75 in the first one, and Natalya Nazarova did 51.62 in the second one.

Olesya Bufalova was seventh in the women’s triple jump with 14.31 meters.
