Russian successes in marathons

There were some important marathons on weekend, and the Flora London marathon was the main of them. In London, Svetlana Zakharova placed second clocking a good time of 2:24:39, and Germany’s Irina Mikitenko won the race with 2:24.14.
Zakharova, 37, became the London marathon for the third time, and this edition was just second race after a childbirth. Russian coaches told her, that her result allowed including her to Russian team for Beijing. “This is my career beginning after two-year absence”, said Zakharova after the finish.
Lyudmila Petrova was fifth clocking 2:26:45. Aleksey Sokolov finished 9th with 2:11:41.
Lyubov Morgunova won the Rotterdam marathon clocking 2:25:12.
Grigoriy Andreyev finished sixth at the Turin Marathon with 2:11:00.
