Javelin should fly far in Zhukovsky

The men’s javelin throw will no doubt be one of the most attractive events of the 50th Znamensky Memorial, because many contenders for Beijing 2008 medals will come to Zhukovsky, where the meeting takes place on 15 June.
There will be in the event’s lineup World champions including Russian record holder Sergey Makarov, Andrus Varnik from Estonia, the meeting’s record holder Aleksandr Ivanov (88.90), Olympic silver medalist Vadim Vasilevskis from Latvia (PB: 90.73), World Junior champion, European U23 champion Igor Janik from Poland. Ilya Korotkov should not be forgotten as well, he won the European Winter Throwing Cup in March achieving 81.52m.

The javelin throw has gained a big popularity in recent years around the World because of beautifully organized meetings and high results achieved by World leaders.

Znamensky Memorial organizers are sure, that athletes will achieve over-80 meters results on 15 June.
