High results by competitors of upcoming Znamensky Memorial

The 50th Znamensky Memorial will have a strong line-up consisting of athletes from 25 countries, many of whom achieve high result in the beginning of the Olympic season.
RusAthletics.com has already reported about the fast seconds of Pamela Jelimo from Kenya who had set the women’s 800m World junior record. Her rivals have stood out too: 800m European champion Olga Kotlyarova won the women’s 800m at the Caucasus Cup in Sochi, her first meeting in this season, clocking 2:01.46, at the same time the initial pace of the race was very fast – about 62 second in the first lap.

Romania’s Liliana Popescu showed a great shape winning two events in Bucharest clocking 4:00.35 in the 1500m and 1:59.34 at the 800m.

Last year’s Universiade Champion Mohajer Shojaei from Iran will run the men’s 800m at the Znamensky Memorial for the first time in the current season. He won the 400m clocking 46.5 at an Iran League meeting in Teheran.

Russian Ivan Buzolin clocked in the same event in Sochi a Russian season best of 46.65.

Olympic Champion Tatyana Lebedeva who won the women’s long jump with 6.69m in cold weather in Portugal is planning to compete before the Znamensky Memroial: in Athens, Dessau, Tallinn and Eugene (8 June).

Slovakia’s Dmitriy Valukevich achieved 16.90m in the men’s triple jump in Portugal.

One of the favorites of the 400m at the Znamensky Memroial Tatyana Veshkurova set in the women’s 400m a European season best of 51.05 seconds in Sochi.
