Silnov and Galkina-Samitova win in Stuttgart

Olympic champions Andrey Silnov and Gulnara Galkina-Samitova won their events at the 6th World Athletics Final in Stuttgart on Day 1.
Andrey Silnov won the men’s high jump clearing 2.35m and beating Stefan Holm placing second with 2.33. Yaroslav Rybakov placed fourth with 2.29.
World record holder Gulnara Galkina-Samitova won the women’s 3000mSt clocking 9:21.73, a new meeting record. Yekaterina Volkova finished 4th clocking 9:29.49.
In the absence of Yelena Isinbayeva, Silke Spiegelburg of Germany won the women’s pole vault. Svetlana Feofanova lost her by attempts clearing 4.70m.
Tatyana Lebedeva was third in the women’s long jump with 6.64m.
