Galkina-Samitova’s debut at European Cross Country

Olympic Champion and World record holder in the women’s 3000mSt Gulnara Galkina-Samitova made her debut at a European Cross Country Championships this Sunday.
Gulnara leaded after 2km mark, but after she didn’t stand the pace and finished 12th clocking 28:40 after Viktoriya Trushenko with the same time.
Galena Ivanova and Nadezhda Trilinskaya finished 32th and 56th respectively. Russian women’s team placed 5th, and Portugal’s team became the winner.
Nikolay Chavkin was 48th in the men’s race. Legendary Sergey Lebed of Ukraine won a European Champion title for the 8th time.
Yuliya Zarudneva finished third with 21:24 at the women’s U23 race and with Tatyana Shutova, Natalya Puchkova and Natalya Vlasova placed second among the teams.
Yekaterina Gorbunova finished 7th at the women’s youth race where first six places were taken by Great Britain’s girls. Russian team was third here.
