Howe starts in Moscow, Saladino skips season

Italian Andrew Howe will be the main star of the men’s long jump at the Russian Winter meeting in Moscow on 1 February.
European Outdoor and Indoor Champion, World Silver medalist Andrew Howe (23, PB – 8.47) is seriously preparing for the 2009 indoor season, because the European Indoor Championships takes place in Italian city of Turin, where he hopes to win like 2 years ago in Birmingham.

In Moscow, he will face Brazil’s Rogerio Bispo, Poland’s Marcin Starzak and strong athletes from the USA and Cuba.

Russia’s Dmitriy Plotnikov, Stanislav Ionov and Aleksandr Petrov are going to achieve high results. All of them got over 8m last year.

World and Olympic Champion Irving Saladino will skip the indoor season and concentrate on the World Championships in Germany.
