23.01.2009

Anastasiya Shvedova is no doubt going to be included in the Russian team, for Torino. In Dresden, she placed second in the women’s pole vault clearing 4.50m.
Shvedova is an experienced athlete. She competed at the 2004 Olympic Games after a sensational win at the 2004 Russian Championships and won the silver medal at the 2003 Universiade.

Yelena Isinbayeva and Svetlana Feofanova will not compete at the European Indoor Championships, so Shvedova has a chance to be included in the Russian team for the European Indoors, but it will be clear after the 2009 Russian Indoor Championships on 13-15 February.

In Germany, Shvedova achieved her season best of 4.60m repeating her indoor best. The winner was Germany’s Anna Battke with the same result.
