Pitkamaki plans to open the season in June

02.04.2009 World

Reigning javelin world champion Tero Pitkamaki plans to open the season on June 6 in Seinajoki.
It is his home town currently. There will be just javelin competitions, men and women, no other events. It is a competition which his coach Hannu Kangas and his home sports club Nurmon Urheilijat are organising. In 2004-2006 the venue was Seinajoki and 2007-2008 Kuortane which is 40 km from Seinajoki. It is expected that also Olympic champion Andreas Thorkildsen could compete as in 2007. Pitkamaki plans to compete in AF Golden League as javelin is again a golden event. The Finnish thrower wants to make this year for a slight disappointment when he was only third at Olympic Games in Beijing.
