15.04.2009 World

Best javelin thrower ever Jan Zelezny who was recently appointed meeting director of Golden Spike Ostrava IAAF Grand Prix meet surprised even himself at the end of the training camp in South Africa.

At traditional place in Potchefstroom where the camp of his four throwers was ending he was still able to throw 84 metres. “I was surprised, but we had a good wind and we did not take fouls so we just threw, but still it was good,” he said.

From his throwers Olympic finalist Vitezslav Vesely did pretty well with 82 metres and young Petr Frydrych 79 metres. “I hope it will motivate them to better than me. And it is clear I m not planning any comeback,” said Zelezny. His group started another training camp this week in Punta Umbria, at the boarder of Spain and Portugal.
