Olsen had an operation

Danish olympic and world medalist in shot put Joachim Olsen started in November his training for the outdoor-season 2009.
The training went very satisfactorily, but during weight-training on Monday 13 April Olsen damaged a disc in his back. A series of examinations gave the undisputed result that Olsen needed an operation which happened on Apr 24.
After the operation the pain in the foot was diminished and he was discharged from the hospital in Saturday. He has now an intensive rehabilitation in front of him. The decision about his career will be made in later stage of the rehabilitation.
