Powell starts in New York

Star sprinter Asafa Powell confirmed for Universal Sports website he is ok to run at New York Grand Prix meet next week after some reports indicated he is not totally healthy.
In the mean-time he also decided that he will not come over to Europe after Prefontaine Classic for meetings before Jamaican Championships. Another member of MVP group Olympic silver winner at 100 m Sherone Simpson chance to compete at Jamaican trials for Berlin is rated at 50-50 by her coach Stephen Francis.
She is still recovering from a surgery done on her left knee last September. „The target for Sherone, and I have told her, is not for the trials, but for her to be running in late July or when the (European) circuit continues after the (Berlin) World Championships,“ Francis told Sporting World on Wednesday.
