Russian triumph in Los Angeles
Tatyana Petrova won the women’s race of the 14th Los Angeles marathon with 15.000 competitors. Silviya Skvortsova finished third and Lyubov Morgunova was fourth.
2007 World silver medalist in the steeplechase Tatyana Petrova took the win clocking 2:25.59, just 6 second to her personal best which she set in Dubai in January. Amane Gobena of Ethiopia ran up in nearly one minute - 2:26.53. Silviya Skvortsova clocked 2:28.35 and Lyubov Morgunova clocked 2:29.42.
Women started nearly 17 minutes ahead of the men to battle for $100,000 prize for the overall winner. Tatyana Petrova was close to win, but Wesley Korir of Kenya took the lead in the finish and clocked 2:08.24 bettering his PB by 5 and a half minute. He earned $100,000 and an additional $60,000 for time. Petrova earned $40,000 for the win.
