Viacheslav Voronin jumps 2.33 in Eberstadt

22.08.2005

Viacheslav Voronin gained an excellent victory in the men’s high jump at the Hochsprung-Meeting in German city of Eberstadt. He achieved a season best of 2.33m. Tatiana Kivimiagi was second in the women’s division with 1.91m.
“It was important for me to jump 2.33 today,” Voronin said, “because I had already jumped 2.32 earlier this season.”

“I knew that many jumpers would probably make 2.30, but I wanted my win to be at a height no one else cleared. I wanted it to be an indisputable victory.”

“Finally this year, I don’t even think about my leg at all. All of the pain is in the past,” he reported.

Marina Kuptsova placed sixth with 1.88m. Ivan Ukhov took the same place in the men’s division with 2.27m. Yaroslav Rybakov cleared 2.24m, placing eighth. Aleksei Dmitrik was 15th with 2.15m.
