Isinbayeva and Borzakovskiy win in Oslo
Yelena Isinbayeva won the women’s pole vault at the Bislett Games, the IAAF Golden League’s second meeting held in Oslo. She cleared 4.71 and continued pretending to the Jackpot.
Isinbayeva tried to clear 4.81 but unsuccessful. After she said that because of the rain she waited for a long time to start her performance and didn’t manage to achieve a better result. Monica Pyrek was second with the same result, and Svetlana Feofanova placed third setting her SB of 4.66. Yuliya Golubchikova placed sixth with 4.56; Tatyana Polnova was last with 4.21.
Yuriy Borzakovskiy took a brilliant win in the men’s 800m gaining a fast speed at the last line like at the 2004 Olympics. He clocked 1:44.42 becoming a European season leader. After the finish Yuriy said, “I was running my race, looking for Kaki and he was not there. I only after I finished realised he was not there. I did not see what happened to him. For me this was the great test before Berlin. I was running on Wednesday, now here and on Sunday in Zhukovskiy. Tough schedule, but good preparation. In Berlin it will be equally tough within some days. I’m on the right way.”
