DecaNation : Russia over France

The first edition of the DecaNation, a team competition which took place at the Stade Charléty in Paris, last Saturday 3 September was won by a team of Russia. Russia scored a total of 127 points to finish ahead of France (120 points) and Poland (110 points).
Each of the eight participating teams had to enter one male and one female athlete in each of the Decathlon’s ten events: 100m, 400m, 1500m, 110m Hurdles (100m Hurdles for women), High Jump, Pole Vault, Long Jump, Shot Put, Discus Throw and Javelin Throw.

The best result for the Russian team was achieved by Sydney Olympic champion Viacheslav Voronin who cleared 2.31m. France’s best performer was 2003 Long Jump World champion Eunice Barber who leapt 6.80m.
