Plus two silver medals

Pavel Karavayev and Vera Karmishina took silver medals in their events at the European U23 Championships in Kaunas.
Pavel Karavayev could not compete in the final competition of the men’s long jump because of first two attempts failed, but he concentrated and jumped 7.81m on his third one. He failed on his fourth, improved his result to 7.86 on his fifth and failed on his sixth attempt letting Janis Leitis of Latvia win with a PB of 7.90. Sergey Slepukhin placed sixth with 7.79m.
Vera Karmishina placed second in the women’s discus throw achieving 54.48m. Eden Francis of Great Britain won the event with 57.24, and Yevgeniya Pecherina was sixth with 52.66.
Aleksandr Zyabrev set a PB in the decathlon scoring 7779 points.
