Wariner wins in Italy

Surprise entry at 20th Lignano Sabbiadoro Meet in Italy was world champion Jeremy Wariner who clocked 45.74 to win the 400 m in his first European race of the year.

His next race will be at Paris leg of AF Golden League on Friday. Jamaican Asafa Powell who has his training base here while in Europe was third at 100 m with 10.42 (-0.3) after easing up at 70 metres while beeing in the front. Winner Trell Kimmons of USA clocked 10.25 ahead of Jamaican Winston Barnes (10.41).

More US wins here for Michael Tinsley at 400 m hurdles (49.56), Geena Gall improved her PB to 2:00.44 at 800 m, but is still shy of 2:00 A-standard for Berlin. Cuban Yusneisi Santiusti was close second in 2:00.47 (PB). Funmi Jimoh was the best in long jump (661, +1.3) beating Akiba McKinney (655, +0.6). Lolo Jones scored good win at 100 m hurdles (12.92, -0.7).

Jamaican Dwight Thomas was the best at 110 m hurdles (13.43, -1.2). Ireland´s Thomas Chamney won the 800 m (1:45.81) ahead of US Christian Smith (1:46.23). Poland´s Joanna Wisniewska was best in discus (61.78) and home win for Ana Giordano Bruno in pole vault with new Italian record 446.
