European Champion Francis Obikwelu equalled his season best at 100 m with 10.10 (+1.7) while winning at the 2nd Lusofonia Games.

Brazil Jose Carlos Moreira was second in 10.33. Olympic winner Nelson Evora leaped to 17.15 (+1.5) in triple jump and European leader Naide Gomes achieved 674 (+2.2, legal 639 +0.8) in long jump over Keila Costa of Brazil (671, +2.1, 661, 1.1). Fast 11.30 (+2.0) for Lucimar Moura at 100 m  for Brazil and home Marco Fortes won the shot put (19.74).

Arnaldo Abrantes won the 200 m in 20.64 (+2.4) and 2nd Lusofonia Games ahead of Brazilian Bruno de Barros (20.78). In another sprint battel Brazil beats Portugal at 4x100 m (39.30-39.31). Marcos Chuva leaped to windy 809 (+3.9) in long jump. Sara Moreira still had power after two golds at Universiade to win also here the 5000 m (15:45.05). Brazil won both 4x400 m relays (3:07.76 and 3:34.16).
