World Athletics Final – a statistical farewell

With the last ever edition of the IAAF World Athletics Final having been staged in Thessalonki on 12 / 13 September, we bid a fond farewell to a competition which has ended the main international track and field season for the last seven years.
With a new one-day competition structure coming into place next year headed by the IAAF Diamond League and the second tier IAAF World Challenge series, this year’s IAAF / VTB Bank World Athletics Final as was confirmed at the IAAF Press Conference in Thessalonki (see ‘Related Content’ under the photo to the right of this message for story) was the last ever edition of that World Athletics Series competition.
