French women bob sleigh team will no longer try to qualify for Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver as the French Federation for ice sports (FFSG) decided.
One of the team members was former world champion Eunice Barber. German hurdler Judith Ritz (PB 13.18 from 2006) is competing this winter in the bob with Christiane Wildgruber. Ritz was recently sixth in European Cup race and in long term hopes for Sochi 2014 participation. It is not clear whether she will return to hurdles after an injury. And more from Sweden. The fifth placer from European Indoor Championships at 60 m Lena Berntsson competed this week at World Weightlifting Championships in Korea and achieved a total of 160 kg (national record) what was enough for 15th position in the 53 kg category. Her snatch was 70 kg and clean and jerk 90 kg.
