Gebre at FIFA draw
Long distance legend Haile Gebrselassie travels this week to South Africa‘s Cape Town to assist at the FIFA World Cup draw on 4th of December.
The organization announces today the extraordinary sportsmen that will assist Secretary General Jérôme Valcke at this important night for the 32 countries competing at the FIFA World Cup next year. The multiple Olympic and World champion was invited as the organization described him as one of African continent‘s most celebrated and decorated athletes of all time. Gebrselassie will be joined on stage by sport celebrities as David Beckham, Makhaya Ntini (first black player in the South African cricket team), John Smit, (captain of Rugby World Champions South Africa) and Bafana Bafana player Matthew Booth. Gebrselassie feels honored to be invited and looks forward to the gala night. The Final Draw is beamed live to an estimated audience of more than 350 million people in more than 200 territories. During the show several famous African artists will perform and it will include the world premiere of the handmade 3D animation of the official mascot Zakumi. African beat will echo through the draw while the show will reach a fitting climax in the moment when the 32 teams will know whom to play when.
