Johnson: You can beat the gun, but not Bolt

American track & field legend Michael Johnson, in supporting the no-false-start rule, says it doesnt make sense athletes try to beat the gun when they cant beat Usain Bolt.

The ruling athletics body IAAF in August introduced a new no-false-start rule from January 1 onwards.

Under the tightened rule, any athlete who commits a false start is disqualified. The decision-making IAAF congress gave its nod with a 97-56 vote.

Johnson said: “At the end of the day, these athletes are professional athletes.”
