Expressen with new informations in Semenya case

27.12.2009 World

Swedish newspaper Expressen informs that lawyers of 800 m world champion Caster Semenya are threatening to sue IAAF and ASA with huge amounts of $120 millions and $18 millions.

Lawyer Greg Nott is now involved in the case, the man who was also behind the Oscar Pistorius dispute against IAAF.  According to Expressen sources the settlement in the case is a possibility. The athlete herself plans to undergo a operation. That is necessary not only for the reason to be able to continue to run with women but also because of high levels of testosterone and great risk of getting cancer. The operation will happen most probably after new year, writes Expressen. After that still between six months and two years are needed for her to be able to compete again as a woman. IAAF is officially not commenting about the case since before the last IAAF Council Meeting in November.
