Olympic Park legacy plans revealed

01.02.2010 World

A "poppy day" garden, complete with a war memorial and trees which will flower in red close to Remembrance Day, is being planned for the Olympic Park.

Detailed plans for the design of the 100ha park, which will become a public open space after the games, were revealed by the Olympic Delivery Authority on Tuesday.

The centrepiece of the poppy day garden will be an original war memorial from Eton Manor Boys Club, and it will be planted with Sweet Gum trees selected for their red hues in autumn.
