Berlin with positive outcome

In total 120 millions Euro was the spending amount of visitors and spectators during last summer World Championships in Berlin.
City Mayor Klaus Wowereit informed, that the event ended with a success also on economical side. The costs were down by 5 millions Euro, the regional government guarantee of 20 millions was so not fully used. In total 417 156 tickets were sold what brought 14 millions Euro. Because of all this positive facts Berlin is now considering to bid for European Championships 2016 or 2018. The 2010 edition will be in Barcelona, 2012 in Helsinki and for 2014 the only candidate is Zurich.
