Odriozola keeps insisting on 15 Spanish medals at Barcelona 2010

12.05.2010 World

The president of the European Athletics Championships Barcelona 2010 Orgainising Committee, José María Odriozola, assured during today’s Europa Press breakfast in Madrid that his Spanish athletes like to be under the “pressure” of having to achieve 15 medals at this summer’s continental championships.

“I love pressure. Moreover, I won’t tell you who must win a medal. There are no miracles in our sport and athletes already know who will most likely be successful. It’s a home game and at Barcelona ´92 this was an incentive”, said the also president of the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation.

Considering the future of Spanish athletics, Odriozola is sure that the Iberian Peninsula will stay among the” continent’s top 6 and the world’s top 12”. His objective is to improve the performances of Munich 2002, which means at least 15 medals and more finalists at Barcelona 2010.
