Olympic flame goes on 70-day UK tour

The Olympic flame will be carried to every corner of the country during a 70-day relay by 8,000 volunteers, the organising committee said yesterday.
The torch will arrive in Britain on May 18, 2012, and will be carried into the capital on the weekend before the Games begin.
Its route will not be announced until early next year but the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games said that it would make the relay as accessible as possible, with the aim that 95 per cent of the population will be within an hour’s journey of it.
